The Lacy Heart Stitch
Description
The Lacy Heart Stitch uses Eyelet & Lace techniques to create a fabric of (as the name would suggest) small eyelet heart shapes.
I don't know about you, but this stitch screams "Babies Blanket" to me. Of course, this stitch would work well on any other light-weight garment, like a child's cardigan or for a summer scarf.
This stitch is not too tricky, but you need to keep an eye on where exactly you are in the pattern. There is nothing worse than getting lost!
Want to give it a go? Ok, let's get started...
Instructions
Cast on any multiple of eight stitches for your project.
The first row begins with an eight stitch repeat, consisting of; yarnover, slip a stitch knitwise, knit one and then pass the slip stitch over, followed by knitting six. Continue repeating this across the row.
For the second-row (and all wrong side rows), simply purl all the stitches.
The third row starts by knitting one, then yarning over, slip a stitch knitwise, knit one and then pass the slip stitch over, knit three, knit two together and then yarnover. Continue repeating this across the row.
The fifth row continues by knitting the first two stitches, then yarnover, slip a stitch knitwise, knit one and then pass the slip stitch over, knit one, knit two together, yarnover and then knit one. Keep repeating this pattern across the row until you reach the end.
The seventh row begins by yarning over, then knit three together, yarnover again, knit three, yarnover then slip a stitch knitwise, knit one, and then pass the slip stitch over. Again, keep repeating this until you reach the end of the row.
For the ninth row, start by knitting four stitches then yarnover, slip a stitch knitwise, knit one and then pass the slip stitch over before knitting two. Continue repeating across the row.
Row eleven starts out by knitting two, then knitting two together before yarning over, knitting one, yarning over again before slipping a stitch knitwise, knitting one, passing the slip stitch back over and then finishing the repeat by knitting one. Keep repeating this across the row until you reach the end.
The thirteenth row kicks off by knitting one, the knitting two together before doing a yarnover, knitting three stitches, yarning over again before slipping a stitch knitwise, knitting one, then passing the slip stitch over. Continue repeating this across the row.
For the fifteenth row start out by knitting two, yarning over, slip a stitch knitwise, knit one then pass the slip stitch over, yarnover, knit three together, yarnover again and then knit one. Continue this pattern across the row.
Once you have completed row sixteen, continue repeating rows 1-16 until you have the desired size.
